With more than 36million people every year travelling to London Heathrow airport by surface means, it is Europe’s busiest airport. In 2015 alone, people travelled to 84 different countries and 75million took flights from the famous airport. That’s a huge captive audience and one that has a significant amount of disposable income – perfect then for advertisers trying to reach both business and leisure markets.

But how do you reach both the flyers and those travelling to Heathrow with instant, impactful messaging? One new way is LHRLINK, London Heathrow’s only fully wrapped bus provision, which services all Heathrow terminals and 25 London Heathrow Hotels. The LHRLINK fleet, known as Hotel Hoppa Buses, is made up of thirty vehicles, which each loop around the airport for 20 hours per day.

So how effective is this proposition? Recent research from Independent survey company Dipsticks shows that 37% of people recall advertising seen on buses when compared to 2% recalling outdoor billboards and just 15% from newspapers and online. As if those figures weren’t impressive enough, a recent Emirates campaign that ran on the LHRLINK fleet showed a recall of 57% when survey participants were prompted.
